Frequently Asked Questions

Is it true we’ll be able to see the football field from inside the Library?

Yes, at least a part of the field will be visible from the upper level of Alcuin.   However, the better view will take in the woods beyond the Annex and New Science buildings.

No skyboxes in Alcuin!

Will there be a coffee shop?

Yes – great coffee such as that offered at Johnnie Java will be available in the new addition beginning in Fall 2017.

What about parking?

Science Lot #1, immediately behind the Library, is closed to all activities and parking.   Employees and guests who would normally park in Science Lot #1 may park in the Mary Lot, Flagpole Lot or the Palaestra Lot and access the Annex and Science buildings through Peter Engel.   See the SJU campus map for directions.   In addition, for the duration of construction, there will be temporary parking for about 20 vehicles marked behind New Science for employees working in that building.   You might also find carpooling or utilizing the LINK to be advantageous during this time.   Science Lot #2 remains a student parking lot.   This parking arrangement will continue throughout the next school year 2016-17.

Can I still get a DVD?

Most of the DVD collection will be relocated to Clemens Library until the Learning Commons opens. Place a hold in the catalog to have a DVD sent to Alcuin Library. DVDs on course reserves will be available at our Alcuin Library service desk.
